ABOUT US

Premium Teak From Costa Rica
At BodhiSol Teak, we provide sustainably sourced, premium teak lumber for custom furniture, design projects, and outdoor builds. But more than that, we’re a family business committed to quality, integrity, and impact—connecting artisan farmers in Costa Rica with builders and creatives across the united states.

The BodhiSol Story: A Hagman Adventure

Based in Carbondale and Fort Collins, Colorado, we import teak directly from small partner farms in the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica, a region known for its abundant sun and rich soil.

BodhiSol began with three family members—brothers Jonathan and Alex Hagman, and Alex’s wife Jess—who shared a love for design, nature, and doing business differently. Our work is inspired by Jonathan and Alex’s father, Tim Hagman—an award-winning Aspen-based architect and lifelong adventurer who believed in following creativity and intuition without needing a set path.

What "BodhiSol" Means to Us

  • FAMILY: We started BodhiSol as a way to work together as a family and to pass on a business to our next generations. BodhiSol is named after two of the youngest Hagmans.

  • SUSTAINABILITY: “Bodhi” comes from the tree where the Buddha found enlightenment. “Sol” means sun in Spanish. Our business is powered by both—thoughtful growth and the warm Costa Rican sun.

  • COMMUNITY: We don’t just import wood—we collaborate. Our partnerships in Costa Rica and Colorado are rooted in shared values, fair wages, environmental stewardship, and mutual respect.

Understanding Plantation Teak

A Smarter, More Sustainable Choice

plantation teak

Teak is one of the most sought-after hardwoods in the world—known for its durability, weather resistance, and beautiful grain. But as demand for teak has grown, so has deforestation in the tropical regions where it naturally grows. That’s where plantation teak comes in.

What Is Plantation Teak?

Plantation teak is teak wood grown on managed farms rather than harvested from old-growth or native forests. These plantations are often located in regions like Costa Rica, where conditions support healthy tree growth and year-round sun exposure.

Unlike traditional logging, plantation-grown teak follows a cycle of replanting and selective harvesting. This means the wood is produced intentionally and responsibly, with long-term environmental health in mind.

BodhiSol Plantation Teak

At BodhiSol, all of our teak comes from small, family-run farms in the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica—a region known for rich soil, strong forestry traditions, and a deep respect for the land.

We visit the farms regularly, build direct relationships with farmers and millers, and support practices that go beyond sustainability checkboxes. For us, it’s about doing business the right way—not just the easy way.

A Material That Aligns With Your Values

Choosing plantation teak isn’t just a design decision, it’s a commitment to ethical sourcing and long-term sustainability. When you build with our wood, you’re not just buying lumber; you’re supporting a supply chain that values people, planet, and craftsmanship.
